Description | This is a myristoylated PKCζ pseudo-substrate ζ inhibitory peptide (ZIP), which can inhibit atypical type of protein kinase Cζ (zeta). It has been shown that it also interacts with PKC family isoforms and disrupts conventional PKC targeting and translocation, leading to physiological memory impairment. This sequence corresponds to the pseudo-substrate region of the N-terminal regulatory domain, which maintains the enzyme in an inactive form in the absence of an activator. Pseudo-substrate peptides have also been shown to be competitive inhibitors of PKCζ in neurons. This peptide is also used to prove that PKCζ is involved in the regulation of integrin-dependent adhesion and chemotaxis of intact human neutrophils. |
