Description | Rat/mouse Ghrelin is different from human Ghrelin in the 11th and 12th positions, rat/mouse RV (Arg-Val) and human KA (Lys-Ala). Ghrelin is an orexin hormone secreted by human gastric P/D1 type cells and circulates in the bloodstream under fasting conditions. The 28-amino acid Ghrelin n-octanoylated serine 3 is an endogenous ligand for growth hormone secretagogue receptor 1a (GHSR1a). The GHSR1a receptor seems to be specific to Ghrelin and is widely expressed in different tissues. |
